Uncompressed Video Service
 
Kick Uncompressed Digital Video Service provides high-quality, digital transmission for audio and video signals. It can handle multiple digital channels at the same time either point-to-point or point-to-multipoint — and can transmit up to 16 National Television Systems Committee (NTSC) broadcast-quality video signals and up to four 20 kHz audio signals at a rate of 2.4 Gbps. The uncompressed digital format eliminates compression-related signal artifacts that can affect quality.

Kick provides a modular way to access all of the powerful services available through Kick national and international delivery options, desktop review, storage and archive.
Allows content to be used in its native format, enabling customers to choose between numerous audio, video compression options including:MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DVC-PRO formats.


Purpose
It is a cost-effective choice for simultaneously transporting multiple superior-quality digital channels.

Applications include:

  • Uplinking multiple channels of programming to a satellite uplinker
  • Off-track betting
  • Distribution of news and programming content to multiple locations
Functions
With uncompressed video service, customers have the option of 8-bit encoding for broadcast quality, or 10-bit encoding for studio quality.

8-Bit Coding: Each video signal includes up to two associated 20 kHz audio signals or Broadcast Television Systems Committee (BTSC) stereo audio signal.

10-Bit Coding: Each video includes up to four associated 20 kHz audio signals

Optional Features
  • Dual Transmit Channel Termination- Allows the identical video and audio signals of one uncompressed digital video service channel to be transmitted over a second channel. This provides route diversity and redundancy. (Available only where two uncompressed video service channels are provided at the same customer designated premises).
  • Video Bridging- Enables the same video signal transmitted from one location to be received by all other locations included in the multipoint arrangement.
