Super-Trunking Video Service

Kick Super-trunking Video Service (KSVS) is a one-way transport solution for multiple video and audio channels that enables cable operators and other programming distributors to extend service to areas that are not yet connected — even to areas beyond the reach of traditional cable system amplifiers’ cascades. Its 750 MHz capacity can carry more channels than other carriers currently offer and it can be used for point-to-point transmission between headends, or between headends to hubs.

Applications for KSVS include:
  • Establishment of a new CATV program delivery system.
  • Transmission of movie programming from a content provider to hotels.
  • Transmission of programming by a college to student dormitory rooms.

Functions
KSVS allows customer-provided composite video and audio on 6 MHz RF channels to be transported across a broadband fiber facility in an Amplitude Modulation format up to 750 MHz. Based on distance and channel-loading requirements, up to 80 signals (channels) may be transported over a single SVS channel.

KSVS may be ordered between two customer premises for two-point configurations, or between a customer-designated location and a Kick hub for multipoint service configurations.

Video Bridging
KSVS is offered in a standard point-to-point configuration. For an additional charge, Video bridging can be added to provide KSVS in a multipoint or point-to-multipoint configuration.

Benefits
With fewer headends, maintenance costs can be reduced and troubleshooting and control systems can be centralized.
